Hilary Brown resided on Hornby Island from 1937 until her death in 2007. Throughout her life she was actively engaged internationally in women's equality issues and the peace movement from World War Two to the present. On a local level, Hilary defined the term "grass roots activism" and was involved in initiating nearly every community facility that now exists on Hornby Island, including the hub of the community - The Co-op Store. This exhibit will consist of photographs from Brown's life, historical Co-op photos & stories by and about Hilary Brown. It will be the first "Exhibit" showing on our new website and will be posted at the end of September 2008.
This exhibit is being held in honour of BC Women's History Month.
